Many individuals are unaware that force-closing programs in the App Switcher is not a recommended practice of iOS or iPadOS devices, yet many users do so on a daily basis. But that’s not even the most heartbreaking aspect.

The worst feeling is when you watch a user accidently force-shut an app that they were using but did not want to close. In reality, they were just attempting to force-close other programs in order to free up some system memory so that the app they were using could function correctly and provide them with decent performance.

StayWithMe by iOS developer popsicletreehouse is a new and free jailbreak modification that stops the aforementioned situation from occuring. How does it accomplish this? It does this by preventing your most recently-used applications from being force-closed through the App Switcher until you manually swipe down on the card.

Properly, when you force-close all other applications except the recently used one, they all shut normally when you swipe up on the App Switcher cards. This is advantageous since you will not mistakenly close the program and will not lose your progress or position inside the app. After installing StayWithMe, a special preference pane is added to the Settings app, which you may use to customize the tweak.

In the Settings, you may turn StayWithMe on or off, choose which applications to omit from the recently used apps exemption, and so on. One thing to keep in mind is that applications that have been toggled on from this page may typically be force-closed, regardless of whether they were recently used or not.

StayWithMe isn’t necessarily a beneficial jailbreak modification for everyone, particularly those who utilize Apple’s App Switcher function as intended. So, if you don’t forcibly shut applications and instead allow iOS or iPadOS manage system memory, this adjustment may not be for you. This fix is ideal for those who often force-close programs and can be obtained for free from the Packix repository. iOS and iPadOS 13 and 14 devices are presently supported by the modification.

Will you install the StayWithMe fix to avoid inadvertent force-closing of frequently used apps? If so, please share your thoughts in the comments area below!
