Brendan Eich, co-founder of the Mozilla Project and developer of JavaScript, developed Brave, a free browser based on Chromium. The browser was designed to increase online privacy on Mac, Windows, and Linux by sharing less data with advertising clients while still allowing users to make money.
Popular websites may have up to 70 trackers. The browser prevents applications from following you around. Others’ “private” or “incognito” surfing modes are not actually private. Brave Browser does not connect directly to a website while you are within a Tor Private Window. Instead, you connect to a series of three machines in the volunteer-run Tor network, one after the other, and finally to the website you’re viewing.
Only one of the three Tor machines knows where your connection is really originating from and where it is truly going. And those two aren’t even communicating with one another since there’s another computer in the between!

On May 28, 2015, CEO Brendan Eichthe, a co-founder of the Mozilla Initiative, and CTO Brian Bondy launched the project. On January 20, 2016, Brave Software released the first public version of the browser. The software had some ad-blocking tools as well as ambitions for an ad income sharing scheme.
On September 1, 2016, the publisher unveiled the beta version of Brave Payments, a Bitcoin-based micropayments system that can automatically and discreetly pay users’ favorite websites, as part of our 0.11.6 release of Brave for desktop.
The online platform took a significant stride forward on October 12, 2017. With the incorporation of BAT into Brave 0.19, the Brave browser became the first application on the BAT platform. BAT wallet was linked with the Brave Payments system.
A pay-to-surf experimental version of the browser was published in June 2018. The updated version came packed with over 200 advertisements, enabling users to begin earning money by showing courageous adverts.
