Earlier this month, a security researcher dubbed pattern f_ from the Ant Security Lab tweeted a sample video of a successful jailbreak effort on an iPhone 11 running iOS 14.0. Later, we discovered that this jailbreak was also compatible with iOS and iPadOS running firmware versions 14.3 and below.
Although it was not stated if this work will be made available to the wider public, the news around this possible jailbreak was eclipsed by ModernPwner’s announcement of the kernel vulnerability cicuta virosa for iOS and iPadOS 12.0 – 14.3.
Pattern f_ seems to have made a Twitter return with his recent post, which offers a preview of a pre-jailbreak for iOS and iPadOS 14.0 – 14.3 devices. According to what we know so far, this pre-jailbreak is reserved for security researchers and allows a user to launch arbitrary executable files, alter and see the iOS filesystem, and initiate an SSH connection with the host computer.
This pre-jailbreak has only been tested on iPhone 11 running iOS 14.0 and iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 14.3, albeit there are some difficulties while using iPhone 12 Pro. There may be a solution to these issues in the future, but there is no assurance.
Coolstar, the chief creator of various jailbreaks like as Chimera, Odyssey, Electra, and others, also commented on pattern fstatement ‘s about how thrilled they are for this and how it won’t take long to transform this into a full jailbreak once it is published. He also mentioned how pleased he is with this pre-reliable jailbreak’s kernel r/w primatives and amfid bypass.
We don’t know if pattern f_ will release this work entirely or not, but if he does, it’s feasible that Coolstar may play with it a bit. So, if we’re fortunate, we could see a full-fledged iOS 14 jailbreak release in the near future.
So, what are your thoughts? Are you excited about the upcoming potential iOS 14 jailbreak? Please let us know in the comments!
