Chromecast with Google TV has received a firmware update, and the operating system has been upgraded to Android TV 12, up from Android TV 10. Google’s standalone streaming device was released internationally in 2020, however it did not arrive in India until 2022. It operates on Android TV software with the Google TV user interface on top. The new software update is now available for Chromecast with Google TV 4K devices, and it includes enhancements to the HDR format and surround sound selection options, among other things.
Gadgets360 has confirmed that the update for the Chromecast with Google TV 4K is already rolling out, with our own long-term evaluation device getting it. The updated firmware’s build number is STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754, and the software version is upgraded from Android TV 10 to 12. Additionally, the update raises the Android security patch level to July 2022. The upgrade weighs in at 722MB.
Additional user options to regulate HDR format and surround sound, the ability to vary refresh rates to match content frame rate, new camera and microphone privacy toggles, and more in terms of privacy, security, bug repairs, and performance improvements are included in the software update.
The Google TV user interface debuted with the Chromecast, but it is now accessible on a variety of other companies’ devices, including Sony and Realme.
The most recent software update is presently only applicable to the older Chromecast with Google TV 4K, which was introduced internationally in 2020.
