Assam’s government announced an agreement with Google India to assist in equipping youngsters with job-ready digital and business skills.

The Assam government inked seven agreements in diverse domains on Monday with a slew of multinational behemoths, including Microsoft, Google, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and Tata group companies. The Assam Skill Development Mission signed the MOUs on behalf of the government (ASDM). In the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other state ministers and senior officials, the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training signed an MoU with Info Edge (India), commonly known as Naukri.com. The Assam Tourism Development Corporation signed agreements with the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, as well as the Tata Community Initiative Trust and the Indian Hotels Company’s Tata Strive Skill Development Initiatives.

Meanwhile, the Assam Electricity Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam’s Green Energy Limited for the development of 1,000MW of solar power.

The Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft would open the path for young capacity development in Assam Skill Development Centres throughout the state. Microsoft would offer intervention for underserved youngsters via its MDSP (Microsoft Diversity Skilling Programme) modules to guarantee their active involvement in the workforce.

The MoU with Google India aims to assist the government of Assam in equipping youngsters with job-ready digital and business skills. The Google Career Certificate Course will link competent teenagers to work opportunities via a cohort of prospective companies.

L&T will provide expertise and assistance for creating training setups and conducting greenfield projects in the construction industry, while the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) would mobilize Assamese jobless youngsters for skill training. In addition to skilling jobless youngsters, placement for industrial positions will be offered within one month after training completion.

The agreement with Naukri.com will provide an online platform for unemployed youths to have their profiles uploaded to the digital domain in order to attract prospective employers, whereas the MoU between APDCL and SJVNL Green Energy Limited (SGEL) will aim to develop solar power projects with a capacity of 1000 MW.

Meanwhile, an agreement struck between Assam Tourism Development Corporation, Tata Strive Skill Development Initiatives, and others would establish a hospitality skill center of excellence for the training of the state’s young.
