Apple has already switched from Lightning and other ports to USB Type-C in its Macs, many iPads, and accessories.

According to marketing head Greg Joswiak, Apple will have to comply with a European Union legislation in order to convert the iPhone to a USB Type-C charger. According to Joswiak, the firm will follow all applicable legislation. He refused to say when the iPhone may receive the Lightning charger. He made the remarks while speaking at a Wall Street Journal conference in Laguna Beach, California.

He said that Apple and the EU have been at conflict for a decade over chargers, noting how European authorities originally urged Apple to embrace Micro-USB. He said that if that move had happened, neither Lightning, the current iPhone charging connector, nor the now-ubiquitous USB Type-C would have been created.

According to Bloomberg News, Apple intends to transition the iPhone to USB Type-C next year. The legislation takes effect in 2024. Apple has already switched from Lightning and other ports to USB Type-C in its Macs, many iPads, and accessories.

Joswiak, like Snap creator Evan Spiegel, dismissed the notion that the virtual environment known as the metaverse would be the future of computers.

The metaverse is a “term I’ll never use,” according to Joswiak.

Mark Zuckerberg has invested billions of dollars in the endeavour, even changing Facebook’s corporate name to Meta Platforms Inc.

In terms of future Apple product upgrades, Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, was questioned whether a touchscreen will ever be added to the Mac.

“Who am I to say?” He responded.

Federighi also said that an Android version of iMessage – the texting service on Apple gadgets — would stifle innovation in iMessage on iOS. Apple would be unable to spend much on an Android version.

Both Federighi and Joswiak stated that Apple has profited from bringing staff back to work – a move that many tech firms have delayed due to employee resistance.

According to Federighi, the pandemic led a lot of individuals to feel detached, and the firm is much more successful when everyone is back together. Apple’s culture has historically revolved around being in the same location at the same time, he continued.
